WV Division of Tourism and Bridge Day Organizers Announce “My Wild & Wonderful West Virginia” Photo Contest
Offers Locals and Tourists Alike A Chance to Win Once-in-a-Lifetime Adventures In celebration of the 35th Anniversary of Bridge Day, event organizers have teamed up with the West Virginia Division of Tourism to sponsor a photo contest that will offer participants a chance to share pictures of their time spent in West Virginia with friends, family, pets or on solo getaways. Entrants will have a chance to win one-of-a-kind experiences, including zooming on a zipline from the New River Gorge Bridge 600 feet to the road below.
Not looking for that much excitement? Maybe you would rather watch others undergo the adrenaline rush. Another prize up for grabs is a pass for four to stand in the middle of the bridge on Saturday, October 18, right next to the estimated 450 daredevil Bridge Day BASE jumpers as they plunge 876 feet into the New River below and rack up more than 1000 jumps throughout the day.
It’s easy to enter! Starting on Monday, June 9, head to the Bridge Day Facebook page at facebook.com/bridgedaywv and click on the Photo Contest tab. You can upload entries in one of two categories, “My Wild & Wonderful Bridge Day” or “My Wild & Wonderful West Virginia”. Submit an image, along with a creative caption, that best depicts how you have fun in West Virginia, whether it’s at a previous Bridge Day or during another experience in the state. Enter as many times as you want.
Winners will be selected based on merit (quality of the image, relevance to the theme and creativity) and awarded exciting prizes for the first three weeks. Voting for the 3 grand prize winners will begin in the fourth and final week. The contest culminates on July 4 with the announcement of the three winners with entries receiving the largest numbers of votes. The grand prizes are 3-night/3-day, all-inclusive va-cations for four in the breathtaking New River Gorge Region.
Other sponsors partnering in this special photo contest are ACE Adventure Resort, Adventures on the Gorge, New River Convention & Visitors Bureau, Raleigh County Memorial Airport, River Expeditions and Visit Southern West Virginia.
