A big fat festival, just in time for your weekend!
All country roads lead to Oak Hill’s end-of-summer extravaganza. Classic cars, cupcake contests, chili. Sample old-fashioned pleasures at the Oak Leaf Festival from Aug. 27-Sept. 4.
Appalachian music
Gather ‘round at the Lively Amphitheater! Throughout the 8-day festival, you’ll hear catchy Carolina tunes by Beach Nite Band and gospel music by the Oak Hill Church of the Nazarene. Joseph Hott and the Short Mountain Boys, an acoustic group, will also take the stage.
Bounces, bowling and booms
Jump around on the inflatables Fun Factory will have behind Chase Bank on Sept. 2-3.
Adults can play, too. Join Pinheads Aug. 29 from 6-8 p.m. for nocturnal bowling! And when the Oak Leaf Festival wraps up, settle down for fireworks.
Contests
Put your culinary skills to the test— you could win prizes and trophies.
If you’re a pro with spices, enter the Oak Leaf chili bake-off. And if you’re the family baker, be there with your masterpiece Sept. 4.
The Youth Cupcake Decorating Contest gives tykes a taste of the action, too. Remember to give those desserts an autumn theme!
More entertainment
Gather for the Parade of Lights on Sept. 2 at dusk. Then, come back the following day for the “Take Me Home, Country Roads” parade lineup! You can also tour a classic car show Sunday, Sept. 4 by Oak Hill High School.
