The #1 place to catch the Bridge Day excitement— all weekend long
Stay right in the center of all the Bridge Day action at Adventures on the Gorge resort.
From the AOTG homebase, you can enjoy outdoor activities like whitewater rafting, ziplining and more. It's also the most convenient place to stay: it's just minutes from bridge (with shuttle service to the festival) and home to Bridge Day’s kick-off event, Taste of Bridge Day.
Here’s why AOTG is the place to be this Bridge Day weekend:
Watch Bridge Day from Below: Whitewater Rafting
Skip the crowds on the bridge, but still see the action. The most unique way to watch the BASE jumpers and rappellers on Bridge Day is from a boat on the New River.
“It’s very dramatic coming out of the peace and solitude of the New River Gorge, after rafting those intense rapids, and having a front-row seat to the world’s largest extreme sporting event,” said PJ Stevenson (aka ‘The Wizard’), a former guide and Marketing Director of AOTG.
AOTG’s Bridge Day weekend rafting packages all include meals and 2 nights of lodging or camping:
- Package 1: Double days of rafting! Paddle under the bridge to catch the action Saturday, and take on the world-famous Lower Gauley River on Sunday.
- Package 2: See Bridge Day from the river on a Lower New rafting trip Saturday
- Package 3: Take the shuttles to attend the festival from the top, and then go rafting the next day.
More Adventure
There are plenty of other adventures to try, and AOTG has the professional guides and all the equipment you need.
After watching the jumpers, take your own mini-aerial adventure. Stroll the catwalk underneath the New River Gorge Bridge with a Bridge Walk tour over the gorge. AOTG’s Gravity zipline tour has the longest zipline on the east coast, the AdrenaLine, or you can take a calmer zipline trip on the TreeTops nature tour. Need more challenge? Try to finish obstacle courses up in the trees on TimberTrek.
You can also play paintball, learn to kayak, rock climb, horseback ride, fish, mountain bike, cave, stand-up paddleboard… and the list goes on!
Taste
AOTG even kicks off Bridge Day weekend Friday with Taste of Bridge Day at Smokey’s on the Gorge. Taste all the local cuisine and vote for your restaurants as you enjoy the live music by The Wild Rumpus, all atop the rim of the canyon overlooking the iconic bridge. (Tickets available at the event.)
The Most Convenient Accommodations
ATOG is the ideal place to stay for Bridge Day. Make it a weekend. AOTG shuttles guests to Route 19, so you can enjoy Taste of Bridge Day, stay up late and dance the night away with Wild Rumpus, sleep in and catch a shuttle to Bridge Day without worrying about parking.
The resort has a variety of lodging options, from luxury cabins to rustic camping (and glamping). Enjoy restaurants and nightlife on site, as well as relaxing amenities like a pool overlooking the gorge.
