Bridge Day Forecast 2010

Bridge Day 2010 Weather Forecast PREDICTION FOR: BRIDGE DAY – 10/16/2010 NEW RIVER GORGE NEAR FAYETTEVILLE, WV

DATE: For 10/16/2010 SIGNED: Simone Lewis, NOAA/NWS Meteorologist

WEATHER DISCUSSION:

High pressure will begin to build into the region from the west late Friday night behind a departing low pressure system. This will lead to overall dry and sunny conditions for Saturday, outside of a few rag tag clouds lingering through mid morning, which are not expected to cause any disruption to aviation or Bridge Day operations in general. As the high builds into the region, expecting northwest flow aligned with the gorge, blowing from downriver to upriver throughout the day. Winds will blow rather steady in the morning, but become gusty by early afternoon with daytime heating. In general, by early afternoon sustained northwest winds will range between 12-14mph with gusts in the upper teens. An occasional gust in the lower 20s during the afternoon hours cannot be ruled out. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
