Bridge Day is an amazing one-day event, but all throughout the gorge area, there are other things to explore. Add a day or two to your trip so you enjoy all the fun events and things to do.
Here are some other things to try while you’re in town:

The Endless Wall Trail was voted the #1 National Park trail in the USA, and provides amazing views of the New River Gorge. Located just north of the Bridge off of Lansing Road, this 4-mile out-and-back hike takes you through an old growth pine forest, crosses Fern Creek and meanders through rocks before you hike the rim of the New River Gorge.
Enjoy the Local Flavor
Fayetteville may be a small town, but it’s got more than its fair share of amazing cuisine. Try the creative cuisine at Secret Sandwich Society, Gumbo’s, Pies and Pints, Vandal’s Kitchen and more! If you want to sample some sizzling fall favorites, taste them all at Taste of Bridge Day, or head to the Chili Cook-Off in downtown Fayetteville after the festival.
Take on the World-Renowned Whitewater
It’s #gauleyseason! Bridge Day marks the last weekend you can paddle the wild waves of this World Top 10 Whitewater River. If you want a tamer ride, try the New River right below the bridge!

Bridge Brew Works offers tours and tastings at their location in Fayetteville, and you can take home a growler of their tasty craft beer as a souvenir.
Explore an Underground Mine
The Exhibition Coal Mine in Beckley offers underground excursions, where you can head into the mines in a cart to learn about and experience the coal mining heritage of Southern West Virginia firsthand.
