West Virginia's largest one-day festival is October 18, 2008!

Bridge Day 2007 a success!
• 155,000 people attended
• 377 jumpers from 10 countries with a record # 876 jumps
• 23 rappel teams with over 300 individuals with over 800 rappels
• 20 ascents
• Over 100 did the highline
• Mark Seyfang from Ohio was the first to do a rappel , an ascent and a BASE jump
• Robert Handley was the oldest rappeller at 79

I just wanted to tell you how very much I enjoyed my experience at Bridge Day.  The Down Under Tour was just awesome and the guides were so knowledgeable and helpful. It was truly an awe inspiring sight to see that bridge and all those jumpers. I had just the best time and met so many wonderful folks. Thanks so very much! See you next year!!!!!

Welcome to Fayette County and New River Country! On October 18th Again for the third year~ Bridge Day~Down Under Tours for 2008! McDonalds of Oak Hill, New River Juniors, and the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce are pleased to announce another opportunity for New River Gorge Bridge Dayâ?¢ tour into the gorge! These two hour tours into the gorge on Bridge Day let the participants get up close and personal as they view the BASE jumpers and rapellers from a new vantage pointâ??the bottom of the Gorge! Reservations for the tours will open in June--call 304-465-5617 or email fayette@wvdsl.net for more information. Our charity for 2008 has yet to be chosen. Guided van tour includes refreshments. You have two hours to enjoy the beauty of the New River Gorge, the excitement of Bridge Day and the fall foliage. Spaces are limited.

BASE Jumper parachutes from the New River Bridge Bridge Day is the largest extreme sports event in the world and is held on the third Saturday in October every year in Fayette County, West Virginia (WV), USA. Hundreds of BASE jumpers and nearly 80,000 spectators are expected to attend this year's Bridge Day on Saturday, October 18, 2008. The New River Gorge Bridge, 876' tall and the world's second longest single arch bridge, serves as the launch point for six hours (9am-3pm EST) of safe, legal BASE jumps. See the Schedule of Events.

The New River Gorge Bridge Day Festival is now celebrated by thousands of people from all over the world!

Get a taste of Southern West Virginia's finest cuisine at the annual Taste of Bridge Day, one of many activities you can enjoy at this year's Bridge Day Celebration. The TASTE event is always held on the Friday before Bridge Day--this year will be October 17th.

Nearly 80,000 people are expected at 2008 Bridge Day


Time is on your side--at least for six hours! Come and enjoy the view from the best overlook in the gorge. This year our sponsor, the West Virginia Dodge Dealers, will have several 2009 models on hand for you to check out. Enjoy browsing through hundreds of vendor's booths, finding just the right souvenir for the day, or purchase Bridge Day products online. The New River Gorge Area also offers some of the best mountain biking, hiking and rock climbing in the region. Some like it wet, so join us on "America's Best Whitewater -- the New and the Gauley Rivers! Whatever your interest, you can find it in New River Country "Wild Wonderful West Virginia!"

Media Requirements
Media requests for special passes must submit a letter stating the purpose of their request and what is needed. They will also have to furnish a complete name and address, SS # and date of birth to the Chamber Office. Cost for Media Passes is $5.00 payable in advance or when you pick up your pass. They may mail this to 310 Oyler Avenue, Oak Hill, WV 25901. The Bridge Day Commission will then review all requests and supply media passes. These passes will have certain restrictions based on the need and the request.

NOTE: Please do not bring your dog to the event. They are not allowed.
NO Backpacks, coolers, or large handbags. NO Dogs. NO Bicycles, skates, skateboards, or wagons. NO Weapons, Fireworks, Illegal Drugs, or Alcoholic Beverages.
You may ride your bike or walk down into the gorge. Just keep in mind it is a 4+ mile distance one way and that you yeild the road to motorized vehicles.
